Another player from Detroit will be making the trip to Atlanta next week.
With the MLB All-Star Game fast approaching, the Detroit Tigers are gearing up for one final series against the Seattle Mariners before the 2025 season hits the All-Star break. The Tigers are aiming for their 60th win, holding the best record in baseball, though time will tell if they reach that milestone before attention shifts to Atlanta.
Right now, no team is sending more talent to the Midsummer Classic than the Tigers. Detroit will be represented by ace Tarik Skubal, outfielders Riley Greene and Javier Báez, second baseman Gleyber Torres, and utility man Zach McKinstry—giving fans in the Motor City plenty to cheer for.
And while those five were already set to appear, it turns out they won’t be the only Tigers making the trip to Truist Park.
Tigers RHP Casey Mize Reportedly Added to All-Star Game on Thursday Night

Late Thursday night, Emily Waldon of Baseball America reported that Tigers right-hander Casey Mize has been added to the American League All-Star roster. While Major League Baseball has yet to confirm the news officially, it’s already shaping up to be a thrilling week for Detroit fans.

If any Tiger has earned an All-Star nod, it’s Mize. The 28-year-old has overcome major adversity, missing the entire 2023 season due to Tommy John surgery. While early 2024 raised questions about whether he’d regain his form, those concerns have steadily faded thanks to his impressive consistency this year.
Through his first 15 starts, Mize has posted a 9-2 record with a 2.63 ERA, 1.179 WHIP, and 73 strikeouts across 85 2/3 innings. He’s holding opponents to just 8.4 hits per nine innings while limiting them to a .243/.287/.383 slash line. His walk rate of 5.9% is also comfortably below the league average of 8.4%.
Detroit’s strong showing across All-Star Week is a point of pride, but once the festivities wrap up, the Tigers will quickly shift their focus back to the regular season—and the bigger goal ahead. With Mize, Skubal, and the rest of the Tigers’ core leading the charge, Detroit will look to capture its first World Series title in over four decades.
