The Cincinnati Reds remain one of the most entertaining and dynamic teams in the league. With a blend of lively personalities, star talent, and an experienced manager who knows how to maximize his players’ potential, the Reds were just 3.5 games behind the final National League wild card spot entering Tuesday. They have a real opportunity to make a significant impact this season, and many are encouraging them to seize it. Bleacher Report’s Kerry Miller has suggested the Reds should consider making a move to bring back their former third baseman, now Arizona Diamondbacks slugger Eugenio Suárez.

Miller noted, “If things don’t go well for Cincinnati in upcoming games against Washington and Tampa Bay, they might become sellers. Relievers Emilio Pagán and Taylor Rogers could attract interest as rental options, and they might find a way to share the remaining $7 million of Nick Martinez’s $21 million contract. But if the Reds are looking to add power, acquiring Eugenio Suárez makes a lot of sense.” Suárez currently leads the National League with 36 home runs and tops MLB with 86 RBIs.

Suárez built his reputation during his time with Cincinnati from 2015 to 2021, hitting .253 and blasting 189 of his 312 career homers while with the Reds. Currently, Cincinnati’s third baseman ranks 28th in Wins Above Average, so bringing in Suárez would provide a major offensive boost as the team pushes for a playoff spot.

Reds fans would welcome the move, and adding a power hitter like Suárez to a lineup struggling offensively could be just what Cincinnati needs to return to the postseason for the first time since 2020.
