This season, the Atlanta Braves have been among the worst teams in Major League Baseball. In an attempt to avoid being swept by the Amazins, they came into Sunday’s play 11 games behind the New York Mets for the last postseason place. Atlanta has seen a lot of injuries, which has resulted in several deals for veterans that have little potential. Erick Fedde, whom the Braves just acquired, has been dismissed.

Less than a month after acquiring him from St. Louis, veteran right-hander Erick Fedde was released by the Atlanta Braves on Sunday, according to the Associated Press.

Fedde’s season with the Cardinals started off horribly. The Redbirds sent him to Atlanta after he recorded a 5.22 ERA in 20 starts. Fedde departed for cash or a player to be identified later in 2025 after St. Louis agreed to bring him in at the 2024 trade deadline. He pitched 23.1 innings with an 8.10 ERA in five games with Atlanta. This includes Friday’s four bullpen innings in which he gave up six runs.

Aaron Bummer, a reliever, was also added to the Braves’ disabled list due to irritation in his shoulder. The southpaw, who had given up only one run in his previous five games, is in a difficult spot right now. He inked a two-year deal last summer, so he should return to Atlanta’s bullpen next season.

According to the AP, the Braves brought up right-handed pitchers Hunter Stratton and Wander Suero to complete their roster. Although nothing will put Atlanta in the running for the playoffs, strong showings from these prospects may give hope for 2026. According to MLB.com, neither pitcher is ranked among the organization’s top 30 prospects.

The Braves will travel to play three games against the Miami Marlins and four games against the Philadelphia Phillies after wrapping off the series with the Mets on Sunday.
