Dallas Wings rookie guard Paige Bueckers might miss Wednesday night’s matchup against the Connecticut Sun.

Per Myah Taylor of the Dallas Morning News, the former UConn standout — widely regarded as one of the program’s all-time greats — could be sidelined, marking yet another setback as the calendar flips from August to September.

Paige Bueckers’ Playing Status Takes Rough Turn

On Tuesday, Myah Taylor reported on X that “Paige Bueckers and Arike Ogunbowale are both not practicing today due to illness, according to a source.”

Even if Bueckers ends up sitting out, her impact on the league is already clear. Los Angeles forward Azurá Stevens praised her leadership in an interview with The Mirror’s Jarrod Castillo, calling her “extremely humble, always putting the team first,” noting how much that resonates with those around her.

Wings head coach Chris Koclanes also highlighted Bueckers’ steady development despite the team’s struggles. “She trusts her teammates,” Koclanes said. “She’s going to make the right play every time. Having someone like her as the future of this organization, I feel extremely lucky to have a servant leader like Paige.”

With a month remaining in the regular season, Dallas sits outside the playoff race, making the remaining games more about building for the future than postseason contention. The Wings (9-29) look to end a five-game skid when they host the Connecticut Sun (9-28) on Wednesday at 8 p.m. ET before heading out to face the Atlanta Dream (24-13) Friday night.
