The Buffalo Bills made significant additions to their roster in the 2024 NFL draft, but their activity didn’t stop there. General manager Brandon Beane continued to bolster the team even after the draft concluded.

One notable move was the signing of former Utah offensive lineman Keaton Bills. ESPN’s Mike Clay humorously remarked on the fitting nature of Bills joining the Bills, stating, “Undrafted guard Keaton Bills signed with the Buffalo Bills. Naturally.”

Fellow Utah alum and Bills tight end Dalton Kincaid expressed his support with a “Bills mafia 🙏🏽🙏🏽” comment.

Sydney, who is also a fellow Utah alum, married Bills in March 2020. Their family expanded with the arrival of their son, K. Jensen, in July 2023. With his sights set on earning a roster spot, Bills will now aim to contribute to the reigning AFC East champions in Buffalo, New York.

While the Bills Mafia celebrated the addition of Bills to the team, his wife, Sydney Bills, shared a heartwarming message on Instagram, celebrating her husband’s new contract. She posted a photo of their son wearing a Bills hat backward, captioning it with, “Yeah, Jensen looks good in Bills gear! @buffalobills.”

During his time at the NFL Combine, Bills had acknowledged the possibility of joining a team with his namesake. “It’s been brought up a few times,” he told Power 96.5 FM’s Muki Hawkins. “I like the name Bills, so we’ll see what happens.”

When asked about his attributes and what he brings to a franchise, Bills emphasized his accountability, durability, and mental toughness. He also highlighted his versatility on the field, willingness to contribute on special teams, and expressed excitement about his future in the NFL.

Standing at 6-foot-4 and weighing 324 pounds, Bills’ signing with the Bills could potentially see him becoming the first player to have his surname on both the front and back of his jersey. 24/7 Sports’ Steve Bartle dubbed Bills joining the Bills as “A match made by the football gods.”

Keaton Bills was Projected to Get Selected in the 6th or 7th Round of the NFL Draft

Last season, Bills played a pivotal role in guiding the Utes to an impressive 11-6 record, earning Honorable Mention All-Pac 12 honors twice. Despite going undrafted, there is notable potential value for Buffalo with Bills as an undrafted free agent, as predicted by The Athletic’s Dane Brugler, who anticipated Bills being selected in the 6th or 7th round.

Brugler provided insight into Bills’ background, highlighting his inclusion in Utah’s 2016 signing class alongside notable talents like RB Zack Moss and QB Tyler Huntley. Additionally, Bills’ journey includes a religious mission to Honduras before enrolling at Utah, where he transitioned from defensive tackle to the offensive line.

Throughout his collegiate career, Bills started in 38 games for the Utes, establishing himself as a consistently reliable presence on the line. Despite not possessing remarkable athleticism, Bills excels in pass protection with his ability to quickly set and anchor against opposing rushers, particularly in confined spaces.

Overall, while Bills may not showcase elite athleticism, he compensates with his tenacity, heavy hands, and adeptness in close-quarters combat. Although his potential ceiling in the NFL might not be exceedingly high, Bills offers a functional skill set that can immediately bolster interior depth for a team.

Bills News: Buffalo’s Offensive Line Will Look Extremely Different in 2024

Buffalo’s offensive line is poised for significant changes in the upcoming season, particularly with the departures of Ryan Bates and Mitch Morse. The Bills have outlined plans to transition Connor McGovern to center, while David Edwards competes for the left guard position alongside Alec Anderson and Keaton Bills.

Joe Buscaglia of The Athletic addressed this shift, noting McGovern’s solid performance but also highlighting his status as the lowest-graded starter in the previous season. Additionally, McGovern’s limited experience at center in the NFL, with only 100 snaps over five seasons, raises legitimate concerns. While McGovern did play center extensively at Penn State, it was at the college level and quite some time ago. The decision to release Morse, a linchpin of their offensive line, could potentially lead to a decline in overall performance from the starting five. As a result, the Bills might consider selecting a young center prospect in the draft to mitigate this risk.

During the NFL draft, the Bills addressed their offensive line needs by selecting former Georgia center Sedrick Pran-Granger with pick No. 141. Additionally, they bolstered their offensive tackle depth by drafting Tylan Grable at No. 204 and Travis Clayton at No. 221.
