BREAKING NEWS: Duke key Transfers sideline

With all the player transfers happening this spring—a new trend in college basketball, for better or worse—it’s a good time to review where everyone will be next fall.

Mark Mitchell will join the Missouri Tigers.
Jeremy Roach will become a Baylor Bear.

Sean Stewart is headed to Ohio State as a Buckeye.
TJ Power will play for the Virginia Cavaliers.
Christian Reeves will be a Clemson Tiger.
Jaden Schutt is joining the Virginia Tech Hokies.
Jaylen Blakes is still undecided.

Generally, these moves seem positive, especially for playing time opportunities. Mitchell is expected to be a key player at Missouri, not just a secondary option. Roach will team up with star freshman VJ Edgecombe at Baylor, making them a strong team for next season.

Mark Mitchell finishes against Boston College Jan. 7.

Stewart will be at Ohio State, where his elite athleticism could shine if he can elevate his basketball IQ, something that limited his time at Duke. If Ohio State can develop his mental game, he could become a standout player.

Brad Brownell’s talent development at Clemson is noteworthy. If Reeves can follow the path of players like PJ Hall and Ian Schieffelin, he could become a significant force for the Tigers.

Schutt brings his shooting skills to Mike Young’s Hokies, while Power adds offensive prowess to Tony Bennett’s Cavaliers. Both players have potential but need time to develop.

Blakes has not made a decision yet. After graduating recently, he has various options: choosing a graduate school, going overseas, or playing in the G-League. His strong defense is an asset, though his offense needs improvement. He might surprise us by choosing a school like Vanderbilt, DePaul, or Washington, but for now, he hasn’t revealed his plans. Regardless, playing at the ACC level and graduating in three years shows he has a lot going for him.
