JUST IN: Buffalo Bills sign another 29-years old key man to mega contract agreement

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — On Thursday, the Buffalo Bills enhanced their safety depth by signing Dee Delaney to a one-year contract. Delaney, 29, brings five seasons of NFL experience, including three with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, where he made five starts in 49 games. Originally an undrafted free agent from The Citadel, Delaney began his NFL career with two games for Jacksonville in 2018 and played one game for Washington the following season.

Delaney joins a Bills team in transition at the safety position after the breakup of the longstanding Micah Hyde and Jordan Poyer duo, together since 2017. Poyer was released in March and subsequently signed with Miami, while Hyde remains unsigned and is contemplating retirement.

Returning backup Taylor Rapp and new addition Mike Edwards are expected to start in a unit that also includes Cole Bishop, a second-round draft pick from last month.

To make room for Delaney, the Bills released recently signed receiver Quintez Cephus, who was deemed expendable after the team signed free agent Marquez Valdes-Scantling on Tuesday. Cephus, who spent his first three NFL seasons with Detroit, was looking for a fresh start after missing the entire 2023 season due to a suspension for betting on NFL games in 2022.
