Former Oregon redshirt freshman defensive back Collin Gill entered the transfer portal during the spring window after the Ducks’ spring game. He has now revealed his new commitment on social media.

On Thursday morning, Gill announced that he will be attending Temple University, returning to the East Coast where he hails from Washington, D.C.

Gill, a consensus three-star recruit, did not play during the 2023 regular season, which earned him redshirt status for his next program. Originally a high school cornerback, he primarily practiced at safety during fall camp. Standing at 6-foot, 215 pounds, Gill possesses the physical attributes to compete as a safety at the collegiate level.

Collin Gill is the second defensive back to commit to Oregon this week along with Texas safety Tyler Turner.

A native of Waldorf, MD, Gill played high school football at St. John’s College HS in Washington, D.C. He was ranked No. 1264 nationally, No. 116 among cornerbacks, and No. 6 in D.C. according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. In the Top247, he was ranked No. 77 among cornerbacks and No. 5 in D.C.

Gill was recruited by former Oregon coaches Demetrice Martin and Carlos Locklyn and chose Oregon over offers from Akron, Appalachian State, Boston College, and others.

He is one of seven players from Oregon’s 2023 class to enter the transfer portal.
