Buffalo Bills revealed on Tuesday that they have signed a former star player from Notre Dame. The announcement is made as they prepare to part ways with an offensive lineman who was selected in the past due to an injury sustained during organized team activities this spring.

The Buffalo Bills waived Tommy Doyle

This month, the Bills are getting ready for the obligatory portion of OTAs. They should consider bolstering the offensive line’s depth. The Bills announced that they have added Tommy Doyle, a fifth-round pick in 2021, to the waived/injured list.

Doyle had been hurt quite a few times since being picked. In the last two seasons, he suffered injuries to both his ACL and LCL. Doyle has made 12 appearances in Bills games since the 2021 campaign.

The Bills signed former Notre Dame LB Shayne Simon

The decision to waive Doyle created a vacancy on the roster, thus the organization signed rookie linebacker Shayne Simon, who was not selected. In May, Simon took part in the Bills rookie minicamp. The previous season, Simon appeared in 12 games for Pittsburgh as a middle linebacker. 48 stops, 7.5 tackles for loss, and 5.0 sacks were all part of his total. He spent two seasons in Pittsburgh, participating in 25 games overall.

He participated in 32 games for Notre Dame between 2018 and 2021.

Simon, 24, is a West Orange, New Jersey native. He attended Pitt’s Katz Graduate School of Business to pursue a master’s degree in supply chain management after graduating from Notre Dame with a degree in finance.

Simon is going to don jersey number 49.
