Antoine Keller is set to embark on a new chapter in his hockey career, signing a two-year contract with Lausanne HC of Switzerland’s National League.

The 19-year-old goaltender, originally from France, spent his first season in North America with the QMJHL’s Acadie-Bathurst Titan. Keller showcased his talent with a solid performance, posting a 17-12-5 record in 37 regular-season appearances, along with impressive playoff stats.

Selected by the Washington Capitals in the seventh round of last year’s draft, Keller made history as the first player from the Caps franchise to be drafted out of France and only the sixth French player ever drafted overall.

Under the guidance of Cristobal Huet, former Capitals goaltender and fellow French-born draft pick, Keller will aim to continue his development at Lausanne. The sports director, John Fust, expressed confidence in Keller’s potential and praised his work ethic.

Keller’s journey to professional hockey has seen him traverse various levels of the sport in Switzerland, where he moved at a young age to pursue his hockey aspirations. He has previously played against men in Switzerland and brings a wealth of experience to his new team.

Despite representing France internationally, Keller’s mask features both the French and Swiss flags as a homage to his roots in both countries.

The National League preseason commences earlier than North American leagues, providing Keller with an opportunity to acclimate to his new team ahead of their first preseason game in August. Keller’s potential return to the Capitals Development Camp for a second stint could further enhance his development.
