After his playing career is over, Nolan Arenado of the St. Louis Cardinals will probably be inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame; at the absolute least, he will be remembered as one of the best defensive third basemen in baseball history.

Arenado has also been as prolific as normal after joining St. Louis before to the 2022 season; in fact, he finished third in the 2022 NL MVP vote, behind then-teammate Paul Goldschmidt.
Nevertheless, it appears like Arenado’s tenure with the squad is nearing its conclusion, and Nolan has admitted as much.

Injuries have Plagued Arenado’s 2025 Season
The defensive asset has a.234 batting average and just 10 home runs, a sharp decline from Arenado’s days with the Colorado Rockies. He missed all of August and a significant portion of September due to a shoulder issue.

Arenado is one of three Cardinals players who may be playing their final home games at Busch Stadium in the 2025 season, according to Josh Jacobs of Redbird Rants on FanSided. Jacobs notes that even though Arenado was a terrific player, his tenure in St. Louis didn’t fully reflect that.

“On one hand, Arenado is an all-time great and future Hall of Famer, but on the other hand, most of his campaigns with the Cardinals have been underwhelming, and the club didn’t win a single playoff game during his time in St. Louis,” wrote Jacobs.
The 2025 Cardinals are presently five games outside of the last NL Wild Card slot with a record of 74-79.
