One year following a tumultuous offseason, Buffalo Bills wide receiver Stefon Diggs is once again introducing uncertainty regarding his future with the team.

In his first public comments since the team’s playoff defeat to the Kansas City Chiefs, Diggs shared his thoughts with the NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe during this week’s Pro Bowl Games. Despite being under contract until the 2027 season, Diggs refrained from providing a definite statement about what lies ahead.

“I approach it on a day-to-day basis,” he expressed. “Certainly, there are numerous changes and developments taking place. I can’t predict the future; it’s like not putting the cart before the horse, you know? I have a promising offseason ahead to invest significant effort and work on building around our current situation.

“I can’t specify what the future holds, but I remain true to myself.”

“I’m ready to go no matter which way it goes,” Diggs said.

Bills Moving Forward With Top Receiver

While Stefon Diggs refrains from confirming his future in Buffalo, insiders suggest that the team might have limited options. Tyler Sullivan from CBS Sports points out that Diggs carries a substantial $27.8 million cap hit for the upcoming season, making it financially challenging for the Bills to part ways even if they were inclined to do so.

Sullivan adds, “That said, his contract does become more maneuverable after next season with his dead cap number decreasing in each of the next three campaigns.”

Despite this financial aspect, the Bills have publicly expressed their commitment to Diggs. During his season-ending press conference, general manager Brandon Beane affirmed that Diggs would remain the team’s top receiver in the upcoming season, even though he experienced a late-season dip in performance and a crucial drop in the divisional-round loss to the Chiefs.

Stefon Diggs Gets Weirdly Cryptic on Instagram

“Stef’s, he’s a No. 1 receiver. I firmly believe that, not wavering off of that,” stated Beane via ESPN. “… Listen, we have to continue to put weapons out there to keep teams from bracketing him or, you know, locking him down in different ways to take him away. They know you are going to want him. Stef can still play, I’m sure he would love to have that deep ball again, he’d be the first to tell you. He’s super competitive, he’s going to work his tail off this offseason. I know there’s various reasons or questions on this or his production, all that, but I still see Stef as a No. 1 receiver.”

Stefon Diggs Disappointed With End to Season

Diggs also reflected on the fourth-quarter drop against the Chiefs, acknowledging that it could have significantly altered the course of the game by putting the Bills in a favorable position deep in Kansas City territory. Ultimately, the Bills missed a potential game-tying field goal on that drive, allowing the Chiefs to run out the clock and advance to the AFC Championship game.

“Like I said, that’s one of the plays I want back. I count that, if I touch it, I drop it. If I get one hand or a finger on it, I count it,” Diggs shared with Wolfe. “Just this season in its total, rolling with the punches, first eight games and the last eight games, or nine games, or ten games, however you dice it, it just was a different picture. And it’s something I had to get adjusted to as a teammate, just rolling with the punches, being the best teammate you can be, the best player you can be, and keep growing from it.”
