The Green Bay Packers are gearing up for the 2024 season with high expectations of being among the top teams in the NFC. Their 2023 campaign ended agonizingly close to reaching the NFC Championship game, falling short by just three points due to a missed field goal.

In preparation for the upcoming season, the Packers have made significant moves in free agency, bringing in multiple players expected to make a lasting impact on the team.

However, amidst these positive changes, there’s one player who won’t even make it to training camp.

The Green Bay Packers Release Player Prior To Training Camp

Our very own Jordan Sigler reported earlier today that the Green Bay Packers are actively addressing their kicker situation following concerns raised during OTAs. After showing interest in Jake Bates, who ultimately signed with the Detroit Lions, the Packers have intensified their focus on their kicking game.

The team is currently navigating a pivotal position battle at kicker. Anders Carlson faced challenges during his rookie season with the Packers. To bolster competition, the Packers recently acquired Greg Joseph, a former kicker for the Minnesota Vikings, and undrafted free agent Jack Podlesny.

However, despite these additions, the Packers expressed continued dissatisfaction, prompting their interest in Jake Bates from the UFL. Following recent developments, including the release of Jack Podlesny on Wednesday, the Packers now have an available roster spot. This move potentially clears the way for another kicker to join the competition alongside Joseph and Carlson as the team prepares for training camp.
