Phillies in danger of being left out in the cold by biggest trade deadline seller
Are the White Sox interested in any prospects from the Phillies’ farm system? With the Chicago White Sox sitting at the bottom of the majors, it’s well known that they’ll be major sellers at the upcoming trade deadline. They have several valuable players who could benefit contending teams, such as the league-leading Philadelphia Phillies. The White Sox could potentially address all of the Phillies’ needs in one transaction.
However, The Athletic recently reported that Chicago has dispatched top scouts to evaluate prospects in various farm systems. These evaluations included the San Diego Padres, Los Angeles Dodgers, and Seattle Mariners, but notably excluded the Phillies.
This suggests that the White Sox might not be considering Philadelphia as a primary trading partner, which could be unfavorable for the Phillies if they’re looking to acquire talent from Chicago.

White Sox players who could help the Phillies include outfielder Luis Robert Jr., starter Garrett Crochet, closer Michael Kopech, and even Tommy Pham.
With an obvious need for an outfield upgrade, Robert would be an ideal fit. The former All-Star, who has won both Gold Glove and Silver Slugger awards, could significantly enhance the Phillies’ performance both defensively and offensively.
The Phillies are also in dire need of starting pitching help after recent injuries to Taijuan Walker and Spencer Turnbull. Crochet has been a standout performer despite the White Sox’s struggles, boasting a 6-6 record with a 3.05 ERA, 0.94 WHIP, and 130 strikeouts in just 94 1/3 innings pitched.
Kopech could strengthen the Phillies’ bullpen by providing additional support in the closer role, especially if José Alvarado or Jeff Hoffman struggle. With seven saves and 48 strikeouts in 34 1/3 innings, Kopech’s electric pitching could be a valuable addition to an already formidable relief lineup.
If the Phillies are unable to secure Robert, Pham would be a decent alternative. Though not on Robert’s level, Pham has demonstrated consistent performance both at the plate and in the field throughout his 11-year MLB career. Averaging close to 20 home runs and 70 RBIs per season, he could provide a needed offensive boost from the outfield position.
Despite the White Sox not having top scouts in the Phillies’ minor leagues, this doesn’t necessarily rule out Philadelphia as a potential trade partner. The Phillies could still engage in a blockbuster trade with Chicago to bolster their roster for the remainder of the season.
