REPORT: Georgia football and Kirby Smart name remaining 2025 five-star recruiting targets
The Georgia Bulldogs have already secured three five-star commitments for the 2025 class, but Kirby Smart and his coaching staff are poised to add even more. With the recent commitment of edge rusher Isaiah Gibson, Georgia’s 2025 class now includes three five-star recruits. Kirby Smart and his team have assembled a 17-player class, currently ranked No. 3 in the nation, trailing only Ohio State and Alabama. However, the Bulldogs are not finished yet.
During this summer’s official visit window, nine five-star recruits visited Athens, with six still uncommitted to Georgia or any other school. The other three, Gibson, tight end Elyiss Williams, and linebacker Zayden Walker, have all committed to Smart’s program. This impressive success rate bodes well for Georgia’s chances of securing more top-tier recruits for the 2025 class.
Let’s take a look at the remaining five-star recruits who are priority targets for Georgia’s coaching staff.
Justus Terry (National Ranking: 12)
After de-committing from USC in June, Terry is now expected to flip his commitment to his hometown Bulldogs.
David Sanders Jr. (No. 3)
Sanders is anticipated to announce his commitment to Clemson sometime this summer and is the most likely five-star priority recruit to elude Smart’s grasp. He is the top offensive line prospect in the nation, ranking only behind quarterbacks Bryce Underwood and Taven St. Clair.
DJ Pickett (No. 9)
Some recruiting sites list Pickett as a safety, while others classify him as a cornerback, but all rate him highly. Pickett visited Athens on June 7 and has since toured Miami and Oregon. LSU and Clemson are also in the running for the lanky defensive back.
Jared Smith (No. 19)
While he’s a composite four-star, 247Sports is particularly impressed with Smith’s ability as an exceptionally long edge rusher. Georgia prioritizes size, length, and speed above all else on defense, and Smith checks all of those boxes. USC, Tennessee, South Carolina, and Florida State are also still in the mix.
Derek Meadows (No. 32)
Georgia’s 2025 class already includes four wide receivers, so Meadows’ recruitment has cooled a bit. 247Sports predicts that the 6-foot-5 wideout will commit to Notre Dame, though Georgia remains in contention following his official visit on June 7.
Elijah Griffin (No. 8)
Elijah Griffin is a unique case because, despite being an in-state product, he didn’t take an official visit to Athens but visited Georgia unofficially. While this might seem discouraging for the Bulldogs’ chances of landing the disruptive defensive tackle, Benjamin Wolk of 247Sports placed a crystal ball prediction for Griffin to commit to Georgia.
With his unique combination of size and speed, he perfectly fits the mold of elite athletes that Smart routinely recruits for his defensive front.
