Reinhart, who was about to become an unrestricted free agent, inked an eight-year, $69 million contract with the Panthers, the team announced.

Prior to the 2021–22 season, Reinhart was acquired by the Panthers from the Buffalo Sabres in a trade, and he rapidly made a name for himself as a vital member of the team. That was especially evident during the Panthers’ 2017 championship run.

Reinhart had a career-best season in 2023–24, playing in all 82 games and finishing with 57 goals and 37 assists for 94 points. Along with his postseason total of 16 points (10 goals and 6 assists), he also scored the game-winning goal in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals against the Edmonton Oilers, which handed the Panthers their first-ever championship.

“Sam has proven he can be a potent scoring threat while playing excellent defense since moving to South Florida,” stated Bill Zito, President of Hockey Operations for the Panthers. “We are happy to have him stay with our group because his superior personality and work ethic surpass his versatility and value as a player.”
