BREAKING: Stanley Cup Champion Signs six-year contract With The Carolina Hurricanes
William Carrier has signed a six-year contract with the Carolina Hurricanes. The deal has an annual value of $2 million.
“Original Misfit” Heads East
William Carrier has spent the last seven seasons with the Vegas Golden Knights, having been selected from the Buffalo Sabres in the 2017 Expansion Draft, making him one of the original Golden Knights.
Carrier achieved a career-high 16 goals in the 2022-23 season and contributed six points in the playoffs as the Golden Knights won the Stanley Cup. He is the second “original misfit” to leave the Golden Knights, following Conn Smythe winner Jonathan Marchessault, who signed with the Nashville Predators.

Role With The Hurricanes
William Carrier is a physical player capable of contributing both offensively and defensively, with his forechecking ability being a key factor in his success on both ends of the ice.
It is currently unknown which line Carrier will play on or who his line mates will be. However, it is clear that the Hurricanes hope Carrier can be a crucial piece in their pursuit of a Stanley Cup Championship.
Carrier Contract Latest In Busy Off-Season
The Hurricanes have been one of the more active teams this offseason. They have given contract extensions to Jaccob Slavin and Jordan Martinook, and signed Shayne Gostisbehere to bolster their blueline.
The Hurricanes attempted to re-sign Jake Guentzel, but after failing to do so, his rights were traded to the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Building A Contender
After falling short in the playoffs the last few seasons, the Hurricanes are focused on building a team that can take them all the way. It will be interesting to see what other moves they may make in their quest to bring the Stanley Cup back to Carolina.
