BREAKING: Current Kentucky superstar agree on a huge deal with Arkansas over wildcats
Arkansas men’s basketball recently confirmed the acquisition of Kareem Watkins, formerly a walk-on at Kentucky. Watkins becomes the fourth ex-Wildcat to join Coach John Calipari in transitioning to Arkansas, alongside Zvonimir Ivisic, Adou Thiero, and DJ Wagner.
Additionally, three freshmen—Karter Knox, Johnuel “Boogie” Fland, and Billy Richmond—altered their commitments from Kentucky to Arkansas following Calipari’s move.
Watkins, a 5-8 point guard, enters as a fifth-year player with experience from Kentucky, where he played in 20 games and notably started on senior night against Vanderbilt. During his time with the Wildcats, he recorded 4 field goal attempts, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals.
Interestingly, Watkins is stepbrother to Wagner.
In other signings, Arkansas also announced the additions of Hawaii Pacific transfer Melo Sanchez, and freshmen Ayden Kelly and Jayden Karuletwa, confirming previous reports.
Furthermore, the Razorbacks secured the commitment of freshman guard Casmir Chavis on Wednesday.
With Chavis and Watkins now on board, Arkansas has assembled a roster of 14 players for the upcoming 2024-25 season.
