UNBELIEVABLE: Kirby Smart through a shocking comment on Nick Saban

Many fans have found it challenging to adjust to Nick Saban working as a full-time college football analyst, and Georgia head coach Kirby Smart shares that sentiment.

Smart, who gained recognition as an assistant under Saban at Alabama, was asked on Wednesday about having his former boss and rival in the media. The two-time national champion used a vivid analogy to describe the experience.

“It’s strange. I mean, when I set up the call for Media Days, I was nervous,” Smart said. “I thought, for 15 minutes I’m going to share information about my team with him? It felt like I was giving answers to Darth Vader or something.”

Smart left Alabama to become the head coach at Georgia in 2016. Over the next eight seasons, he and Saban coached against each other, fostering a rivalry between their powerhouse programs. In past years, the last thing Smart would have wanted to do was give Saban any information about the Bulldogs, making an interview with the legendary coach particularly awkward for him.

Saban has already shared some noteworthy insights in his new media role, but it will take some time to get used to seeing him on the other side of the microphone.
