Many of the latest MLB trade rumors leading up to the July 30 deadline have hinted at All-Star pitcher Garrett Crochet possibly landing with the Los Angeles Dodgers. While Crochet is a highly sought-after starter, the Dodgers are reportedly in talks for another All-Star pitcher as well.

Among the many Dodgers’ trade targets, starting pitching is a clear priority. Despite Clayton Kershaw and Tyler Glasnow coming off the injured list, Los Angeles still has several starters sidelined and has experienced how quickly pitching depth can be depleted.

Garrett Crochet is reportedly one of the most coveted trade targets within the Dodgers’ organization. However, the 25-year-old has already surpassed his career-high for innings pitched. The Dodgers have acknowledged that even if they acquire Crochet, he might need to be moved to the bullpen in September to manage his workload. This is not the case with another ace the Dodgers are pursuing.

According to USA Today’s Bob Nightengale, the Dodgers have discussed a Tarik Skubal trade with the Detroit Tigers. The Baltimore Orioles are also in active talks with the Tigers about their top player.

Skubal, 27, has been one of the best pitchers in baseball for the past two seasons. The California native earned his first All-Star selection this summer and would be a Cy Young Award contender if he were on a better team.

**Tarik Skubal Stats (FanGraphs):**
– 2.41 ERA
– 0.88 WHIP
– .189 batting average allowed
– 30.8% strikeout rate
– 4.6% walk rate
– 26.2% strikeout-to-walk rate

The 6-foot-3 southpaw is nearing his career-high of 149.1 innings pitched, but there are no concerns about his workload in October. However, it will take significant convincing for the Tigers to part with him, likely requiring several of the Dodgers’ top prospects. One thing is clear as the MLB trade deadline approaches: the Dodgers plan to be as aggressive as they were this winter.
