The former LSU third baseman known as “Tommy Tanks,” has officially signed with the Oakland Athletics. Selected by the A’s in the second round with the 40th overall pick, White had a standout college career, including a dramatic home run against Wake Forest in the College World Series.

White began his NCAA career at NC State in 2022 before transferring to LSU for the 2023 season. Over two seasons with the Tigers, he hit 24 home runs each year and posted a .351 batting average. MLB Pipeline had him ranked as their No. 20 draft prospect, so landing him at 40th overall is seen as a potential steal for the A’s.

Oakland’s Director of Scouting, Eric Kubota, praised White’s advanced hitting skills and power, noting that White’s defensive abilities at third base have improved. White will soon be seen taking batting practice at the Coliseum and will participate in interviews with media and A’s broadcasts during tonight’s game against the Houston Astros.
