Georgia secured a significant commitment for the 2026 class by flipping a top target from the Trojans. The Bulldogs’ streak of acquiring blue-chip defensive backs shows no signs of slowing, already extending into the 2026 recruiting class.

On Monday afternoon, Dominick Kelly, a 4-star recruit from IMG Academy (Fla.), created a stir in the 2026 cycle by announcing his flip from Southern Cal to Georgia. Kelly had been committed to the Trojans since March, but Georgia’s persistent efforts, particularly from Donte Williams, gradually eroded USC’s advantage over the past few months.

This culminated over the weekend when Kelly informed USC coaches of his decision to decommit and switch to Georgia.

Kelly’s commitment was confirmed by Dawgs247.

This continues a successful trend for Georgia defensive backs coaches Donte Williams and Travaris Robinson this summer. The new coaching duo has secured commitments from Todd Robinson, Shamari Earls, Jaylan Morgan, Rashad Johnson, Jontavius Wyman, and now Kelly — all 4-star prospects — since June, affirming Kirby Smart’s decision to pair these recruiters.

Kelly’s flip makes him the second 2026 defensive back to join Georgia in the past week, following Jontavius Wyman’s commitment on Saturday. Wyman and Kelly are the second and third commits in Georgia’s 2026 group, joining quarterback Jared Curtis.

Kelly received his offer from Georgia in January, with consistent communication from Williams and Robinson. Other programs like Notre Dame, Florida State, and Tennessee also showed significant interest throughout the year despite his initial commitment to USC.

Ranked as a 4-star prospect by the 247Sports recruiting team, Kelly is a 6-foot-1, 175-pound cornerback from IMG Academy, formerly of Robinson (Fla.). He is the nation’s No. 21 cornerback, the No. 40 prospect from Florida, and the No. 246 overall recruit.
