Transfer: FSU Football Champion Signs New Deal

Florida State’s new crop of athletes intends to take the NFL by storm in 2024. Former Seminoles Jared Verse, Trey Benson, and Keon Coleman are likely to emerge as the league’s next rising talents.

Having said that, there are a few players who wore garnet and gold nearly a decade ago and are still pursuing professional careers. Cameron Erving, a former Florida State offensive lineman and NFL veteran, was signed by the Houston Texans earlier this month to bolster their offensive line.

Erving is getting ready for his tenth season in the NFL. The Cleveland Browns selected him in the first round of the NFL Draft in 2015. He has played for the Browns, Kansas City Chiefs, Dallas Cowboys, Carolina Panthers, and New Orleans Saints in his career, making the Texans his sixth organisation.

Erving made his preseason debut last week in a 20-12 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers, only days after being added to the roster. He played 18 snaps and had an overall grade of 56.2 from PFF. In Houston’s depth chart, Erving is listed as the third-string right tackle.

Erving was part of the Kansas City Chiefs squad that secured victory in Super Bowl LIV a few years back. Throughout his NFL career, he’s played in 98 games, with 58 of those as a starter.

Originally from Georgia, Erving played college football at Florida State under former coach Jimbo Fisher. He began his college career as a defensive tackle but switched to the offensive line, ultimately becoming a crucial left tackle. In 2014, he also showcased his adaptability by starting games at center.

During his college career, Erving earned first-team All-ACC honors twice and was a member of the 2013 national championship team. Additionally, he received the Jacobs Blocking Trophy twice, awarded to the top blocker in the ACC.f
