Ohio State is less than two weeks away from the start of the 2024 regular season, and the Buckeyes’ roster is quickly coming together. Over the past week, the team has announced its starting quarterback, team captains, and the player who will wear the Block 0 jersey this season.

With the season’s kickoff approaching, one might assume that recruiting efforts would take a backseat. However, Ryan Day and his coaching staff understand that recruiting is a continuous process. This was evident on Monday when Ohio State made several significant recruiting moves to kick off the week.

Jerome Myles set top five and commitment date

When considering Ohio State recruiting, Brian Hartline’s success in attracting top talent to Columbus is usually the first thing that comes to mind. In the current 2025 recruiting cycle, the Buckeyes already have commitments from four-star wide receivers Quincy Porter and De’zie Jones, along with three-star Ohio wideout Bodpegn Miller.

While this is an impressive group, it’s worth noting that it doesn’t quite match the elite level of previous classes. However, Ohio State is far from finished recruiting at this position. On Monday, the team received news that they made the cut for four-star 2025 wide receiver Jerome Myles from Draper, Utah (Corner Canyon).

Ohio State is facing stiff competition in its pursuit of Jerome Myles, as Georgia, Texas A&M, Utah, and USC are also in the running. Myles has already taken official visits to Utah and Texas A&M, but he has yet to visit the other three finalists. This gives Utah, his hometown school, an early advantage, making it a challenging lead for the Buckeyes to overcome.

Following the announcement of his commitment date, numerous predictions on various recruiting websites favored Utah. However, Ohio State still has an opportunity to sway Myles’ decision, as they hope to host him for an in-game official visit. The fact that Myles is seriously considering Ohio State, despite the Buckeyes only offering him in July and not yet hosting him on a visit, is a positive sign. If he does make it to Columbus for a game this season, Ohio State’s chances could improve significantly.

Myles is ranked as the No. 7 wide receiver in the 247Sports Composite Rankings, the No. 45 overall prospect, and the top recruit from Utah.

Ohio State trending for 2026 five-star Safety

Ohio State is putting the final touches on its 2025 recruiting class, which currently includes 24 verbal commitments and holds the top spot in the 247Sports Class Rankings. With this solid foundation, the Buckeyes can now shift some of their focus to the 2026 recruiting cycle.

Ohio State already has one verbal commitment for 2026, five-star wide receiver Chris Henry Jr., and they are making progress with several other top prospects. Among those the Buckeyes are eager to add is five-star safety Bralan Womack from Flowood, Mississippi (Hartfield Academy). Recently, the team received encouraging news as Womack included Ohio State in his top 10 schools over the weekend.

In addition to Ohio State, Bralan Womack’s top 10 schools include Texas A&M, Notre Dame, Mississippi State, Alabama, Nebraska, Tennessee, Louisville, Texas, and LSU. Although it’s still early in his recruitment and Womack has yet to take any official visits, no single team has emerged as the clear frontrunner.

However, Tom Loy of 247Sports provided further insight, suggesting that Ohio State might currently be the team to beat in Womack’s recruitment.

Womack is ranked as the No. 3 safety in the 247Sports Composite Rankings, the No. 23 overall prospect, and the top recruit from Mississippi.
