HUGE DEAL: Denver Nuggets confirm a huge signing deal
NBA insider Marc Stein has reported that Vasilije Micić, a close friend of Nikola Jokic and former EuroLeague MVP, has been linked to the Denver Nuggets as a potential trade target. Micić, who is currently under contract with a $7.7 million salary this season and an $8.1 million team option for 2025-26, could be pursued by the Nuggets due to his strong relationship with Jokic. However, Stein also highlighted that acquiring Micić would push Denver into the second luxury tax apron, which would limit their roster-building flexibility.
Stein noted that Denver is approximately $5 million away from hitting the second apron, meaning they would face significant challenges in absorbing Micić’s contract. Alternatively, the Charlotte Hornets, who acquired Micić in a trade with the Oklahoma City Thunder, may opt to keep him as a backup to former All-Star LaMelo Ball. Micić, a 30-year-old point guard, joined the NBA last summer after a successful career in Europe and recently helped Serbia secure a bronze medal at the Paris Olympics, averaging 13.3 points and 4.5 assists per game.
