The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and pass-rusher Randy Gregory reportedly had a nasty breakup.

According to insider Aaron Wilson, the Bucs cut Gregory because he has not attended training camp since being signed earlier this summer.
It is unclear why the former Cowboy did not show up.

“He’s expected to retire,” Wilson recently stated.

If the retirement rumors are true, the 31-year-old’s NFL career has certainly been eventful.

Drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in the second round in 2015 out of Nebraska, Gregory experienced a turbulent tenure in Dallas, marked by struggles with drug issues and injuries that limited him to five seasons over a seven-year period.

His standout season came in 2018 when he appeared in a career-high 14 games and recorded six sacks, matching his career best.

Gregory later played for the Denver Broncos for parts of two seasons before finishing the 2023 season with the San Francisco 49ers.

However, he managed to play fewer than seven games in both the 2022 and 2023 seasons.

Had he been able to overcome the distractions that plagued his career, Gregory might have emerged as a true star.

As it stands, unless he receives a new opportunity with another team, this could mark the end of a very unusual NFL career.
