D D: 5-Star safety commit to Miami football over FSU and Florida
The Miami football program bolstered its 2025 class on Saturday with the addition of four-star safety Bryce Fitzgerald. He committed to Miami over Florida and Florida State, having taken official visits to all three schools in June. Fitzgerald also made an unofficial visit to LSU on May 31.
Ranked as the 130th overall prospect, the 12th-best safety, and the 21st-ranked player in Florida, Fitzgerald hails from Miami Columbus. Miami had already secured commitments from four-star safeties Hylton Stubbs and Amari Wallace, signaling the construction of a formidable secondary in the 2025 class.
In 2023, Fitzgerald recorded 20 tackles, five interceptions, one pass breakup, one fumble recovery, and one forced fumble, according to MaxPreps. Andrew Ivins of 247Sports commended Fitzgerald for his route recognition, range, awareness, and athleticism. Fitzgerald is the 14th commit in Miami’s 2025 class.
Miami cornerbacks coach Chevis Jackson led the recruitment effort, with offensive line coach Alex Mirabal, a Miami Columbus alum, serving as the secondary recruiter. According to On3, Fitzgerald visited Miami six times, including his official visits.

According to On3, Florida hosted Bryce Fitzgerald twice and Florida State once, while Fitzgerald made a single visit to LSU as reported by 247Sports. Miami now boasts 15 blue-chip commits among their 22 total commits in the 2025 class. Fitzgerald is the 14th Florida-based player to commit to Miami in this cycle and is ranked as the fourth-highest commit in the class.
Among Miami’s 2025 commits, Hylton Stubbs, cornerback Jaboree Antoine, and center Seuseu Alofaituli are the highest-ranked. The addition of Fitzgerald, along with 2024 signee Zaquan Patterson, Stubbs, and Amari Wallace, strengthens Miami’s future safety group. Fitzgerald’s commitment pushes Miami’s 2025 class ranking up to ninth, overtaking Oregon.
