Isaiah Bolden had found himself in NFL uncertainty after initially making the 53-man roster in Foxborough. However, just a day after clearing waivers, the cornerback has been re-signed to the New England Patriots’ practice squad.

Patriots say Isaiah Bolden has feeling in extremities after rookie was carted off field in Green Bay

The Patriots made the announcement on Friday, also adding linebacker Ochaun Mathis to the squad.

Bolden, 24, had his rookie season cut short by an injury during the preseason but managed to play 67 defensive snaps and 23 special teams snaps this August. The Florida State and Jackson State alum recorded a sack during this time. Bolden was one of the players affected by midweek roster moves made by head coach Jerod Mayo and executive vice president of player personnel Eliot Wolf, as they accommodated four new signings. Despite this, Bolden’s locker at Gillette Stadium remained intact. The Patriots drafted the 6-foot-2, 205-pound cornerback and return specialist in the seventh round of the 2023 NFL draft, with the 245th overall pick.

Mathis, 25, joined the league with the Los Angeles Rams, who selected him in the sixth round of the 2023 draft with the 250th overall pick. The 6-foot-5, 250-pound edge rusher from TCU and Nebraska played in eight games during his rookie season, registering two tackles and one quarterback hit over 74 defensive snaps and 19 special teams snaps. He was waived last weekend ahead of the roster cutdown deadline.

On Wednesday, the Patriots initially signed seven players to the practice squad, followed by six more on Thursday.
