The Cincinnati Bengals have promoted wide receiver from the practice squad to the active roster for Sunday’s matchup against the New England Patriots, as announced by the team on Saturday. Pryor’s elevation is classified as a standard promotion, meaning he will automatically return to the practice squad after the game on Monday.

Cincinnati Bengals; Ja'Marr Chase status for season opener vs. Patriots uncertain

This move comes as little surprise given the Bengals’ current wide receiver situation. Tee Higgins is listed as doubtful due to a hamstring injury, and Ja’Marr Chase’s availability is uncertain as well, with reports suggesting he may sit out if a long-term contract extension isn’t finalized by Sunday. With these potential absences, Cincinnati’s decision to elevate a receiver from the practice squad was expected.

If both Higgins and Chase are unavailable, the Bengals’ receiving corps would be down to Pryor, along with Andrei Iosivas, Trenton Irwin, Charlie Jones, and Jermaine Burton, leaving the team with a relatively unproven group of wideouts for Sunday’s game.
