Georgia football has mostly dominated in their first two games. Clemson provided a challenge in the first half, but Kirby Smart’s team overwhelmed the Tigers in the second. In Week 2, Georgia easily handled Tennessee Tech, winning 48-3 in Athens.

Despite the lopsided scores, the Bulldogs have already racked up several injuries. According to Connor Riley of DawgNation, Georgia’s defensive line is dealing with multiple injuries, along with a key injury at tight end.

“Tight end Oscar Delp exited Saturday’s game with an ankle injury and did not return in the second half. However, Smart gave a positive update, saying, ‘Oscar is good. Oscar is fine.’”

Injuries on the defensive line, however, are more widespread.

“On defense, the line remains an area to watch,” Riley noted. “Warren Brinson, Jordan Hall, and Xzavier McLeod were all out against Tennessee Tech, although Brinson dressed for the game. Smart mentioned Brinson should be ready to practice by Monday.”

Pass rusher Mykel Williams also missed last week’s game due to an ankle injury from the Clemson matchup, and he’s currently in a walking boot. Williams is still undergoing rehab, per Smart.

An official injury report will be issued later in the week, as the SEC now requires daily injury reports starting on Wednesday.

Georgia kicks off SEC slate against Kentucky

Georgia kicks off their SEC schedule this weekend with a road trip to Lexington to face Kentucky. After two dominant victories to open the season, Kirby Smart’s squad will be looking to maintain their momentum in this primetime matchup.

A familiar face will be on the opposing sideline, as Kentucky’s starting quarterback Brock Vandagriff spent the last three seasons as a backup at Georgia behind Stetson Bennett and Carson Beck.

Vandagriff struggled mightily in Kentucky’s 31-6 loss to South Carolina last week, completing only 3 of 10 passes for 30 yards and an interception, resulting in a QBR of just 1.2 out of 100. He was subsequently benched for Rutgers transfer Gavin Wimsatt but is still expected to start against Georgia.

For Vandagriff to keep Kentucky competitive, he’ll need a significant improvement, especially against Georgia’s elite defense, which has long been known for stifling quarterbacks. Meanwhile, Georgia is poised to continue their winning ways on Saturday night.
