DONE: Packers Have Just Signed $1 Million WR to Practice Squad
The Green Bay Packers added a former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver to their practice squad, the organisation announced on Tuesday. In a related move, the Packers released former Steelers running back La’Mical Perine.
Luther signed with the Steelers on August 15, only days before the team’s second preseason game against the Bills. He played only 17 snaps in two preseason games and made little of an impact. The Steelers considered Luther for both returner and wide receiver positions.
He entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent in the 2023 NFL Draft, coming from Gardner-Webb. Luther has spent the past year with the New York Jets, New England Patriots, Pittsburgh Steelers, and, most recently, the Packers.
The 5-foot-11 wide receiver has yet to compete in an NFL game. Luther, a 2022 First-Team All-Big South selection, finished his final season at Gardner-Webb with 1035 receiving yards and seven touchdowns. He ran a 4.5 40-yard sprint on his pro day to get on the team’s radar following his big, breakout season with the Runnin’ Bulldogs.
