REPORT: 14 Cowboys Named on HOF Seniors List Class of ’25
FRISCO – A total of 14 former Dallas Cowboys have been listed as preliminary nominees in the Seniors category for the Pro Football Hall of Fame. From a pool of 183 names, this list will be reduced to 50 in the coming weeks. Among the Cowboys’ nominees are notable Ring of Honor members like Lee Roy Jordan and Don Meredith, as well as Pro Bowlers such as Nate Newton, Daryl Johnston, and Harvey Martin. Other Cowboys legends on the list include Ed “Too Tall” Jones, Herschel Walker, Billie Howton, Ralph Neely, Ray Donaldson, Cornell Green, Everson Walls, George Andrie, and John Niland.
To be eligible for the Seniors list, players must have had their last season in 1999 or earlier. Three of the Cowboys’ top five all-time sack leaders are among the nominees: Martin (114 sacks), Jones (106 sacks), and Andrie (98.5 sacks), who occupy the second, fourth, and fifth spots, respectively. Don Meredith, who played a key role in the Cowboys’ early success, ranks sixth in franchise history in passing yards.
While it becomes increasingly difficult to secure a spot in the Hall of Fame as time passes, these Cowboys legends boast impressive accolades and helped lay the foundation for one of the NFL’s most storied franchises.
