The Philadelphia Eagles edged out the New Orleans Saints with a 15-12 win in Week 3 of the 2024 NFL season, following a tightly contested defensive matchup. Saquon Barkley was the game-changer in the final quarter, carrying the offense with 17 carries for 147 yards and two touchdowns. His 65-yard run jump-started the Eagles’ comeback, as they overcame a deficit for much of the game. While Barkley’s performance was pivotal in the win, the Eagles also faced injury setbacks, most notably to wide receiver and punt returner Britain Covey.

According to Eagles play-by-play announcer Merrill Reese, Covey shattered a bone in his shoulder and is anticipated to be out for at least six weeks.

Although the Eagles have not officially announced Covey’s injury, he is likely to be placed on injured reserve, where he will miss at least four weeks. In 2023, Covey emerged as one of the NFL’s best punt returners, finishing second in the league with a 14.4-yard average per return.

This setback comes at a bad moment for the Eagles, who are already struggling with a weak wide out corps. A.J. Brown has missed the last two games due to a hamstring injury, while DeVonta Smith sustained a concussion following a disputed hit in the Saints game. The Eagles now have only two healthy receivers on their active roster: Jahan Dotson and Johnny Wilson.
