Only in Philadelphia. Nick Sirianni has guided the Philadelphia Eagles to an amazing 36-18 record in his first 54 games as head coach. That’s a.667 winning percentage. That also ranks first among active NFL head coaches. Nobody cares about it right now.

Nobody' would want Eagles' Nick Sirianni if he were fired, ex-NFL player says - nj.com

That may be good enough to keep your job in Charlotte, but the City of Brotherly Love is a different beast. Then then, you never know. David Tepper has been a maniac in Charlotte, but you get what we mean. Philadelphia is a tough place to play.

We’re sitting here. The Birds are up 2-1. They and the Washington Commanders lead the NFC East. No Eagles fan is satisfied, and why should they be?

Nick Sirianni shares his most recent take on the Eagles’ offensive play calling ‘collaborative’ process.

There’s some concern among Eagles fans. Nick Sirianni isn’t considered a strong situational coach, nor is he highly regarded for his X’s and O’s. His decision-making has been poor.

This might not have been an issue if Kellen Moore had been given full control of offensive play-calling, which was supposedly the plan.

Now, however, the term “collaborative” has become a hot topic. Fans, media, and radio personalities are all buzzing about Sirianni’s occasional involvement in the offensive scheme.

This has been a focal point since Philadelphia’s win over New Orleans. Two failed plays, both linked to Sirianni’s decisions, have been the subject of much discussion.

First, the Eagles took a gamble late in the second quarter by going for it on fourth down, opting not to let Jake Elliott attempt a simple field goal as halftime approached. Saquon Barkley was stopped while running laterally along the line of scrimmage. Later, Sirianni allowed Jake to attempt a 60-yard field goal, which he missed (though no one blames him for it).

Fans worry that Sirianni could make a critical mistake that costs the Eagles a game, perhaps even in the playoffs. He nearly cost them the win in New Orleans against the Saints, and these questionable decisions seem to be happening more often. Recently, he talked about this collaborative approach to play-calling.

They call them ‘word salads’… Longer replies… Not much was stated to satisfy anyone… But give Coach credit for answering the question. ‘Passengers’ usually don’t grab for the steering wheel.

We get it. He is the head coach. He wants to leave his mark on wins and losses. Any competent head coach would, but the Eagles appear to be making things happen on offence in spite of, rather than because of, Nick Sirianni.

That’s a scary notion to consider. This is a long NFL season, and we have a feeling this conversation will continue.
