On Wednesday, North Carolina extended a scholarship offer to four-star guard Cameron Holmes. A native of Goodyear, Arizona, Holmes is currently ranked as a four-star prospect and is listed at No. 16 overall in the Class of 2026 by 247Sports Composite.
If you’re a college basketball fan, you might recognize the Holmes name. Cameron’s brother, DaRon Holmes, was a former All-American at Dayton and was selected with the No. 22 pick in the 2024 NBA Draft.

Holmes is now the sixth player from the Class of 2026 to receive a scholarship offer from UNC basketball, and there’s a lot to admire about his game. Standing at 6-foot-5, he can be utilized either as a bigger guard or on the wing, thanks to his athleticism and playmaking ability, which make him a versatile and impactful player in any position.
Kansas was the first school to offer Holmes back in 2021, before he even started high school. Since then, programs like Arizona State, Dayton, Oregon, Arizona, and UCLA have all extended offers. Now, with UNC as his second Blue Blood offer, it’s likely more will follow as his recruitment continues to gain momentum.
