Dak Prescott Fighting ‘Complacency’?

The Dallas Cowboys secured a 20-15 victory over the New York Giants at MetLife Stadium, but Dak Prescott isn’t letting the win boost his confidence too much. Despite the lackluster performance from the Cowboys in all areas, the key takeaway was breaking their two-game losing streak, which included defeats by the New Orleans Saints and Baltimore Ravens. However, Prescott emphasized that the win doesn’t change much for him or the team. “As I’ve said before, even after those two losses, it’s a process,” Prescott stated. “We’re not going to get complacent or overly excited about this win. It’s about building and finding ways to improve in every phase, and it’s easier to do that after a win.”

Cowboys should inquire about trade for five-time All-Pro receiver

The Dallas Cowboys returned to the win column in Week 4 with a hard-earned victory over the division rival New York Giants, but some major issues still persist on the roster.

Defensively, the team is facing challenges, particularly with injuries, as Micah Parsons might be sidelined for several weeks and DeMarcus Lawrence is a “prime candidate” for injured reserve. However, there are concerns on the offensive side as well.

The running game has been inconsistent, failing to perform at a high level, and the wide receiver group has been underwhelming. While Dallas seems to be leaning toward Rico Dowdle as the primary running back, there are questions beyond CeeDee Lamb in the receiving corps. Brandin Cooks has disappointed through four weeks, and although Jalen Tolbert has emerged as a reliable option, the Cowboys could still use an upgrade at wide receiver.

One potential solution ahead of the trade deadline is acquiring a former All-Pro wide receiver like DeAndre Hopkins from the Tennessee Titans. K.D. Drummond of *The Cowboys Wire* pointed out intriguing trade possibilities, with Hopkins making the list.

Drummond noted, “Hopkins is stuck with another underdeveloped quarterback, and at this stage in his 12th season, he doesn’t have much time to waste. After a strong 2023 season with 75 catches and over 1,000 yards, bringing him to Dallas would help solve the issues with Brandin Cooks. Pairing Hopkins with Lamb and tight end Jake Ferguson would give Dak Prescott a formidable set of weapons.”

Outside of Lamb and Ferguson, Prescott’s next most reliable target has been fullback Hunter Luepke. Hopkins could provide much-needed support to Lamb and give Prescott dynamic options at every level of the field. Whether Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is willing to make this move remains uncertain, especially given his cautious approach to roster improvements, but it’s a move worth considering.
