Packers Announce Massive News After Heartbreaking Loss To Vikings

According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport:

Christian Watson suffered a high-ankle sprain that might send him on Injured Reserve.

During Sunday’s 31-29 loss to the Minnesota Vikings, Packers receiver Christian Watson injured his left ankle in the second quarter.

A pass from Jordan Love intended for Watson was intercepted by Vikings linebacker Kamu Grugier-Hill, who stepped in front of Watson. Watson’s left leg got caught underneath him during the play. After being briefly treated by the medical staff, Watson walked off the field on his own and went to the injury tent.

Following a quick assessment, he was taken to the locker room. ESPN’s Rob Demovsky reported that initial tests didn’t show any fractures.

“I spoke with Christian, and he believes it’s just a sprain,” said Packers coach Matt LaFleur after the game.

Defensive tackle Devonte Wyatt also exited the game with an ankle injury and was seen wearing a boot afterward.

Watson had recorded five catches for 80 yards and a touchdown in his first three games of the season, two of which involved a limited passing attack led by backup quarterback Malik Willis.

Despite trailing 28-7 at halftime, the Packers rallied with 22 fourth-quarter points but fell just short of a comeback.

Green Bay Packers wide receiver Christian Watson (9) grabbed his ankle after the injury during the game against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, September 29, 2024, at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

Green Bay Packers Considering Bringing Back Anders Carlson

Anders Carlson, the Green Bay Packers’ field goal kicker, was released prior to the start of the 2024 season. He joined the organisation in 2023 as a rookie. Carlson was in camp with Greg Joseph and other kickers, but none of them got the position.

According to Rob Reischel from Forbes, one potential replacement for Narveson is Anders Carlson, who was drafted by the Packers in the sixth round in 2023. Carlson had a mixed season last year, converting 29-of-36 field goals (80.6%) and 41-of-47 extra points (87.2%). Though Carlson struggled with consistency, particularly in the postseason, he showed improvement over the summer and was more reliable during his time with the Packers than Narveson has been this season.

Many believe Carlson would be a better option than Narveson moving forward.
