PENSBURGH: Senators’ captain sends strong message to penguins 2019 first-rounder
Ottawa Senators captain Brady Tkachuk referred to Pittsburgh Penguins 2019 first-round pick Sam Poulin as ‘Megamind’ from the bench during a scrum in last night’s Kraft Hockeyville game.
With the season fast approaching, tensions on the ice have noticeably increased in several preseason matchups, including Montreal vs. Toronto on Saturday and the Senators vs. Penguins clash during the 2024 Kraft Hockeyville.
Although Elliott Lake, Ontario, won the bid for this year’s game, it was played 160 kilometers east in Sudbury to accommodate more fans. Both Pittsburgh and Ottawa featured their star players, with Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, and Kris Letang suiting up for the Penguins, while Brady Tkachuk, Tim Stutzle, and Thomas Chabot led the Senators’ roster.
Midway through the third period, a scuffle erupted, resulting in 34 penalty minutes. Boko Imama fought with Jan Jenik, while Sam Poulin and Zack MacEwen engaged, drawing the ire of Tkachuk.

Brady Tkachuk had plenty of opportunities to drop the mitts during the game, as well as earlier in the night when Dan Renouf tried to encourage him to fight, but the Senators captain refused. The Senators would go on to lose the game 5 to 2, with Evgeni Malkin scoring a hat trick and Sidney Crosby adding two goals for the Pittsburgh Penguins. The two teams will face off again on December 14th in Canada’s capital.
