Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love is likely to be without two of his top wide receivers for Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Rams. Watson suffered an ankle sprain during Week 4’s loss to the Minnesota Vikings and hasn’t practiced this week. Doubs missed Thursday and Friday’s practices for personal reasons.

Doubs has 20 catches for 169 yards this season, while Watson has recorded five receptions for 80 yards and a touchdown across four games. Love will need to lean more on Jayden Reed, who leads the Packers’ receivers with 17 catches for 336 yards and two touchdowns. Other available receivers include Dontayvion Wicks, Bo Melton, and Malik Heath.

On defense, lineman Devonte Wyatt has been ruled out with an ankle injury.

Despite the injuries, the Packers are three-point favorites on the road against the Rams.

Packers Receiver Out for ‘Personal’ Reason Ahead of Rams Game

The Green Bay Packers have yet to confirm whether wide receiver Romeo Doubs will be available for their Week 5 matchup against the Los Angeles Rams. Doubs missed the team’s final two practices of the week due to a personal matter. Head coach Matt LaFleur mentioned that Doubs’ absence on October 3 was for personal reasons but had been hopeful he would return for the final practice on October 4.

When asked about Doubs’ possible return for Friday’s session, LaFleur responded, “Yeah, I would hope so,” but also noted they were taking it “one day at a time.” Despite the optimism, Doubs did not participate in Friday’s practice, leaving his availability for Sunday’s game in doubt. The Packers officially listed him as “doubtful” on their Week 5 injury report.

LaFleur reiterated on Friday that Doubs’ status remains “day-to-day.”

Doubs, who ranks second on the team in both receiving yards (160) and receptions (12) through the first four games of the 2024 season, has been one of Jordan Love’s key targets. If Doubs is unable to play, the Packers will have to find a way to adjust, particularly with other absences already affecting their roster.

Packers Already Down Christian Watson & Luke Musgrave

The uncertainty surrounding Romeo Doubs’ availability comes at a challenging time for the Green Bay Packers, as one of their top wide receivers, Christian Watson, is already sidelined. Watson suffered an ankle injury in Week 4 during a contested catch against the Minnesota Vikings. Although he initially walked off the field with the help of trainers, he was later carted to the locker room and ruled out for the remainder of the game.

Fortunately, the injury wasn’t as severe as it initially appeared. Head coach Matt LaFleur shared on October 2 that they had “dodged a real bullet” with Watson’s ankle injury, and he would likely only miss “a week or so” to recover. However, Watson has been listed as “doubtful” for Sunday’s game against the Rams, further complicating the Packers’ offensive situation.

Adding to their woes, tight end Luke Musgrave is also questionable for Week 5 after sustaining an ankle injury in the loss to the Vikings. Musgrave missed all practices leading up to the Rams game, leaving his status uncertain. While the Packers have relied more on Tucker Kraft for pass-catching duties, losing Musgrave would further deplete their offensive options.

With both Watson and Doubs likely sidelined, the Packers will need to dig deep to adjust their game plan for Sunday’s matchup.

Jaire Alexander ‘Getting Better,’ Week 5 Status Unclear

Another key injury clouding the Packers ahead of their Week 5 matchup against the Rams is that of All-Pro cornerback Jaire Alexander, who missed Week 4 with a groin issue. While Alexander was able to participate in limited practices leading up to the game, his status for Sunday remains uncertain. After the October 4 practice, head coach Matt LaFleur was brief when asked about Alexander, saying, “He’s getting better. I’ll just leave it at that.” The Packers have officially listed him as “questionable” for the game.

In addition to Alexander, linebacker Edgerrin Cooper (hip), defensive lineman Jonathan Ford (calf), left guard Elgton Jenkins (knee), rookie offensive lineman Jordan Morgan (shoulder), and cornerback Carrington Valentine (ankle) are all listed as questionable, along with tight end Luke Musgrave. Defensive tackle Devonte Wyatt has already been ruled out due to an ankle injury, adding to the Packers’ growing list of unavailable players for Sunday.
