The Georgia Bulldogs are aiming to strengthen their defense, but fans might need to wait a bit for the full impact. While head coach Kirby Smart is focused on guiding Georgia back to Atlanta for the SEC Championship this season, he’s also building toward the future. According to On3.com’s Steve Wiltfong, Georgia is on the verge of landing two highly coveted five-star prospects for the 2025 class: defensive lineman Justus Terry and pass rusher Elijah Griffin.

Wiltfong reported on October 7, 2024, that Terry, the No. 2 ranked defensive lineman in On3’s rankings, was in Athens for the Bulldogs’ win over Auburn. Terry spent the night in Athens, and Georgia remains the clear frontrunner to sign the in-state star. Griffin, the No. 1 ranked defensive lineman and top overall prospect in the class, is set to take his official visit to Georgia this weekend, which coincides with his birthday. Many believe that Griffin could celebrate by committing to the Bulldogs, where Georgia is also seen as the clear favorite.

What Justus Terry's De-Commitment From USC Means For Georgia Football

On3 predicts that Georgia will land Terry over Alabama, giving the Bulldogs a 96.8% chance of signing him, compared to just 1.2% for Alabama. Terry, ranked No. 8 nationally in the 2025 class, has an estimated NIL value of $369,000. Adding both Terry and Griffin would be a major boost for Georgia’s recruiting class, which is currently ranked No. 5 for 2025, according to 247Sports. Kirby Smart is aiming to climb even higher by securing these two elite defenders.
