BREAKING: Trade pitch has Maple Leafs acquiring $6 million winger
The Toronto Maple Leafs have been rumoured to be considering a deal or two to free up roster space. However, one trade proposal involves the team trading a fan favourite forward.
PuckPedia’s PuckGM tool allows users to make their own transactions. One user requested that the Maple Leafs trade Ryan Reaves to the San Jose Sharks.
The proposed trade between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the San Jose Sharks involves the Maple Leafs acquiring Marco Sturm in exchange for Ryan Reaves and a 2027 fourth-round pick.
Marco Sturm, a centerman for the Sharks, could slot into Toronto’s bottom six, possibly serving as their third-line center. With one year left on his $6 million contract, Sturm offers depth and experience, having scored 13 points in 63 games last season. His career totals include 78 points across 269 NHL games.
On the other side, Toronto is parting with a 2027 fourth-round pick and Ryan Reaves. Known for his physical style and fighting ability, Reaves is a fan favorite in Toronto. However, with two years left on his three-year, $4.05 million contract, Reaves has been involved in trade talks due to his cap hit. If traded, Reaves could be a mentor and enforcer for San Jose’s younger players, like Macklin Celebrini and Will Smith, while contributing on their fourth line.
