BREAKING: Bills Dion Dawkins Blasts Chiefs for Super Bowl Performance
The Kansas City Chiefs didn’t play their best football in Super Bowl 59 against the Philadelphia Eagles, a fact even head coach Andy Reid admitted at the NFL Combine, saying, “It was a bad day to have a bad day.”
Despite that, Kansas City rightfully earned their spot in the Super Bowl by defeating the Houston Texans and Buffalo Bills in the playoffs—a fact that may have been overlooked by Bills left tackle and team leader Dion Dawkins.
“The immediate feeling [after the AFC Championship loss] was, it’s over. What can we do? We lost. Time to go home,” Dawkins said on The Pivot Podcast with Ryan Clark on March 4. However, as time passed, he began to feel differently. “And now, with the time [that’s passed], it’s like—we would have put on a better show in the Super Bowl. We would have put on a better show.”
Although Dawkins acknowledged that the Chiefs fairly defeated Buffalo, he remained convinced the Bills would have given the Eagles a stronger challenge—a claim that’s difficult to prove since Kansas City ultimately bested them.

“As a member of my team, I believe we put on the best show no matter who we’re playing against,” the offensive lineman continued. “We are the ones. We’re raw, our quarterback is raw, our line is raw, our D-line is raw—we put on the best show and perform at a high level.”
Later, Dawkins noted that he didn’t complain after the AFC Championship loss and even wished Chiefs defensive tackle Chris Jones good luck on the field. However, he then made a final remark that seemed to take a subtle jab at Kansas City.
“After going to the Super Bowl and experiencing it, feeling those emotions, I’m like, damn,” the four-time Pro Bowler admitted. “This is us. Like, we would have done this. Not saying we would have just gone in and beaten the Eagles, because it would have been… we would have had a chance. And, in my eyes, we would have had the better chance.”
Dion Dawkins’ Remarks Come off as Sour Grapes as Chiefs Best Bills Once Again
Dion Dawkins is entitled to his opinion, but there’s no real evidence to support his claim that the Bills would have performed better against the Eagles than the Chiefs did.

Buffalo hasn’t reached a Super Bowl since 1994, and Dawkins, having spent his entire career with the team, has never played on that stage. Simply put, he has no firsthand experience with what it takes to compete in the NFL’s biggest game.

Kansas City, on the other hand, has no shortage of Super Bowl experience. They’ve won more championships than any other franchise in recent years and have been a near-constant presence in the big game.
Additionally, the Chiefs have made a habit of ending Buffalo’s postseason runs, eliminating the Bills four times since Dawkins entered the league.
Chiefs & Bills Could Be on Collision Course Again in 2025
As long as Patrick Mahomes leads the Chiefs and Josh Allen commands the Bills, this AFC rivalry isn’t going away anytime soon. In fact, the odds suggest Kansas City and Buffalo could be on another playoff collision course in the 2025-26 season.

According to FanDuel Sportsbook, the Chiefs are currently tied with the Eagles for the best Super Bowl odds at +650—a typical position for the most recent Super Bowl participants.
Right behind them are the Baltimore Ravens (+700) and the Bills (+750), meaning there’s a very realistic chance Kansas City and Buffalo meet again next winter. Given their recent history, this matchup has become a near-regular fixture in the AFC playoffs since Mahomes and Allen entered the league.
