The Cleveland Cavaliers are unstoppable, securing their 54th win of the season and extending their winning streak to 14 games with a 112-100 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks on Sunday. This win completed a 4-0 season sweep of Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Bucks in the 2024-25 NBA regular season. Adding to the celebration, head coach Kenny Atkinson made history. The Cavaliers announced on X that Atkinson set a new franchise record for most wins by a first-year Cleveland head coach, achieving the milestone in just 64 games.

Cleveland’s dominance this season underscores the success of hiring Atkinson as JB Bickerstaff’s replacement. Before taking over the Cavs, Atkinson was an assistant coach for the Golden State Warriors and the Los Angeles Clippers, and he previously coached the Brooklyn Nets while also spending time on the coaching staffs of the New York Knicks and Atlanta Hawks.

Under his leadership, the Cavaliers have become a powerhouse on both ends of the court. They currently lead the NBA with a 122.0 offensive rating and rank seventh in defensive rating at 110.9. Their net rating of 11.0 trails only the Oklahoma City Thunder (12.8).

Atkinson has a chance to build on his record when the Cavaliers host his former team, the Brooklyn Nets, at Rocket Arena in Cleveland on Tuesday.
