BREAKING: Georgia Bulldogs Confirms Commitment For Another Top Starlet
Georgia’s latest addition to their 2025 class is another wide receiver commitment, marking the second in as many days, this time from a promising local talent. What does he bring to the class?
It’s hard for a coach to have a deeper understanding of a player than North Oconee head coach Tyler Aurandt has of Landon Roldan. Aurandt is Roldan’s maternal uncle, having known him since birth. He witnessed Roldan’s exceptional athleticism early on, particularly during his time coaching him in Grayson’s 6U football and as a high school running backs coach.
Roldan stood out even among retired NFL players’ children, displaying electric speed and playmaking ability from a young age. According to Aurandt, Roldan’s talent was evident throughout his youth and continued to shine as he played up a grade in middle school. By high school, alongside future Clemson Freshman All-American Khalil Barnes, Roldan’s potential became undeniable.
“He’s always had that special quality,” Aurandt shared with Dawgs247. “His speed, quickness, and natural ability were apparent early on. As a sophomore, he made crucial plays during our playoff run, showcasing his talent against top-tier competition.”
Aurandt provided further insights to Dawgs247 on what Georgia gains with Roldan joining their 2025 recruiting class.
Intangibles: Leader, by example
Aurandt describes Roldan as a model athlete who exemplifies consistency and leadership through his dedication to sports year-round. He emphasizes Roldan‘s quiet yet influential demeanor, noting his ability to lead by example and motivate others without needing to raise his voice.
Roldan maintains an even temperament, whether in victory or defeat, showing little outward emotion but consistently performing at a high level. Aurandt praises his character both on and off the field, highlighting Roldan’s positive impact within the school community and his close bond with his younger sister.
Position fit: Wide receiver who is a weapon with the ball in his hands
According to Aurandt, Roldan is an exceptional wide receiver known for his explosive playmaking ability and balance. He’s adept at making defenders miss with his short-area quickness, making him a natural fit as a returner on both punts and kickoffs. Aurandt mentions Roldan’s versatility in various offensive roles, including tunnel screens, speed sweeps, toss sweeps, and reverses. He also highlights Roldan’s capability to stretch the field vertically and gain tough yards after catching screens. Aurandt anticipates Roldan could even see playing time at running back due to his playmaking skills and ability to handle traffic without being phased. Overall, Aurandt describes Roldan as a dynamic and exciting player who excels with the ball in his hands.
Differentiating quality: Absolute wheels
According to Aurandt, Roldan has shown impressive speed measurements. He verified a 4.42 in the 40-yard dash with a laser at Georgia, while hand timing recorded a slightly faster 4.37. At Auburn, Roldan clocked a 4.40. Aurandt notes that Roldan has consistently demonstrated this speed in the 4.4 range across multiple timings, suggesting his speed is a legitimate asset. They also track his speed using GPS technology, where he typically reaches speeds between 20-22 miles per hour, with occasional bursts up to 22 miles per hour during 7-on-7 drills. This speed and consistency make Roldan a formidable threat on the field.
Multi-sport ability: Exceptional baseball player
Aurandt highlights Roldan’s background as a center fielder, noting that his ability to track and catch balls in baseball translates seamlessly to the football field. He describes Roldan’s natural talent in adjusting his body to make catches downfield, drawing parallels to his agility and burst seen in baseball when stealing bases or getting out of the box. Aurandt emphasizes that Roldan’s speed and natural athleticism have been evident for a long time, making his running style stand out distinctly from other athletes.
