legend: current NBA superstar confirm another huge deal with Charlotte Hornets
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) – A member of one of Charlotte’s renowned families is remaining in the Queen City.
Seth Curry, son of Hornets legend Dell Curry and brother of current NBA superstar Steph Curry, signed a one-year contract to stay with the hometown team on Monday.
The Hornets confirmed the signing, just under three weeks after his release. At the time of his release, reports suggested mutual interest between Curry and Charlotte for his return on a new deal. This interest has now materialized.
Curry first joined his father’s former team on February 8 through a trade that brought the 33-year-old guard and fellow Charlotte native Grant Williams from the Dallas Mavericks. In return, the Hornets sent P.J. Washington to Dallas.
Both Williams and Curry made an immediate impact upon their arrival in Charlotte, but Curry was soon sidelined by an injury. In his eight games with the Hornets last season, he averaged 9.0 points per game with a 44.1% shooting rate.
Curry’s return provides the Hornets with much-needed bench depth and three-point shooting, adding a veteran presence to a predominantly young roster.
After being traded to Charlotte in February, the former Charlotte Christian and Duke star expressed that he “always dreamed of playing here.” Notably, he wore his father’s iconic No. 30 jersey upon his arrival.

Curry rejoins a Hornets team undergoing a “revamp” under the guidance of first-year head coach Charles Lee and general manager Jeff Peterson. The early results have been promising, with Charlotte remaining undefeated in Summer League play.
In recent weeks, the Hornets have strengthened their roster by re-signing star forward Miles Bridges to a three-year deal and trading for promising young guard Josh Green. Additionally, rookie first-round pick Tidjane Salaun has shown great potential.
Charlotte will continue its Summer League campaign on Tuesday night against the Denver Nuggets and fellow Charlotte-area native Hunter Tyson. The Hornets are set to begin regular-season play in October.
